The transformation of the lobby at 19 Grenfell Street demonstrates how strategic design can unlock new value within an existing commercial asset.
Working closely with Exceed Capital, GEYER VALMONT reimagined the building’s arrival experience to create a more engaging, contemporary and tenant-focused environment that strengthens the property’s position within Adelaide’s CBD.
Previously underutilised and disconnected from the energy of the street, the lobby presented an opportunity to redefine the building’s identity and enhance the everyday experience of occupants and visitors.
The design concept, centred on a “revitalisation of the everyday”, introduces a richer and more layered experience through carefully considered materiality, lighting and spatial planning. Warm finishes, refined detailing and textured surfaces create an atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and welcoming, balancing hospitality-inspired design with the practical demands of a commercial workplace environment.
A key component of the strategy was the expansion of the lobby into a former street-facing tenancy. This move opened the building to Grenfell Street, improving visibility and activation while creating a series of flexible amenity spaces that support a range of user experiences.
Soft lounge settings, café-style seating and a new coffee counter encourage informal meetings, collaboration and moments of connection throughout the day. The refurbishment strengthens the relationship between the lobby and the existing rear café, creating a seamless ground-floor experience that connects bright, welcoming spaces with the character of the building’s industrial elements.
By creating an arrival experience that feels premium, connected and active, GEYER VALMONT has delivered a transformation that supports tenant attraction and retention while establishing a renewed sense of place within Adelaide’s city core.
The result is a refined arrival experience that enhances both community and commercial value.
