Our Story of Renewal

After two years of disruption, GEYER VALMONT has re-emerged in Melbourne with renewed energy and purpose. Operating with a start-up mindset, we’ve been rebuilding our presence, forging new relationships, and unlocking fresh opportunities. The Melbourne market holds immense potential, and our new studio is more than just a workspace – it’s a bold statement of intent. It serves as a dynamic platform to elevate our brand, foster meaningful connections, and showcase our integrated design and construction expertise.

Design Intent

Under the leadership of David Drover, Principal of our Melbourne studio, the new space embodies clarity and purpose. It offers an authentic, welcoming environment that avoids fleeting trends, focusing instead on simplicity, structured planning, and a restrained material palette. Designed to support both team collaboration and client engagement, the studio seamlessly integrates functionality with inspiration. Sustainability is a key consideration, with efforts to minimise waste and select responsible materials. Ultimately, the studio stands as a testament to our commitment to premium design thinking and quality execution.

The Studio Experience

A ‘home away from home’, the Studio has been crafted as a social, welcoming environment that encourages conversation, collaboration, and a sense of belonging.

  • Threshold / Arrival: A striking entry sequence features mosaic-tiled flooring, an exposed concrete column, a bold black VJ wall, spot-lit pinned logos, and a curated gallery wall of GEYER VALMONT project photography, all delivering a dramatic and memorable first impression.
  • Heart of House: The centrepiece is a 5.5m concrete island bench with an integrated servery and suspended steel mesh shelving, a vibrant hub for sharing, connecting, and celebrating. The louvred glass wall to the open meeting room mimics the building’s façade, creating a clear contextual link to its architecture.
  • Generation Space: A functional work zone with flexible workstations and quiet focus areas, supporting productivity and innovation.
  • Living Room: A casual, low-tech lounge area designed for informal meetings, conversations, and social connection, a space to decompress away from the bustle.

Materiality and Mood

The studio’s design draws inspiration from Melbourne’s iconic laneway cafés, creating a space that is both contemporary and timeless. Warm, rich tones and subdued lighting establish an inviting atmosphere, while natural, raw finishes are complemented by accents of burnished metal.

A Unified Brand, Locally Expressed

Across our portfolio, all five GEYER VALMONT studios have recently undergone transformation. While a shared design language ensures brand consistency, each studio uniquely reflects its local culture and context. From the laneway-inspired warmth of Melbourne to the heritage-infused sophistication of Sydney, the bright natural light and earthy tones of Queensland, the playful use of colour in Perth, and the beautifully preserved heritage terrace in Singapore, our spaces celebrate both our collective identity and the distinctive character of their surroundings. The new Melbourne Studio continues this tradition, rooted in our legacy, yet boldly looking ahead.
