Following the successful delivery of Metrics Credit Partners’ Sydney workplace, GEYER VALMONT was engaged to design and deliver its new Melbourne office at the iconic 101 Collins Street. The project reflects the continued evolution of the Metrics brand, translating the refined workplace language established in Sydney into a design uniquely responsive to its Melbourne setting.
Located within one of Australia’s most prestigious commercial addresses, the new workplace reinforces Metrics’ growing presence in Melbourne while providing an environment that supports both its people and clients. The design brief centered on creating a workplace that felt distinctly Metrics, balancing professionalism, warmth and sophistication, while responding authentically to the architecture and character of 101 Collins.
The design draws inspiration from the building’s celebrated arrival experience, with a carefully curated palette of warm timber, natural stone, bronze detailing and soft neutral finishes. Material selections subtly reference 101 Collins, creating a seamless connection between the lift lobby, tenancy and wider building environment.
Responding directly to the unique floorplate, the workplace wraps around the building’s central atrium, creating natural circulation pathways and visual connections throughout the space. Framed views into the lobby below and its floating art installation establish a strong sense of place, while fostering openness and connectivity across the workplace.
While the Sydney office focuses on the floor plan details, the Melbourne workplace was designed to draw the eye upward and accentuate the height and volume of the space. This creates a bright, uplifting environment that enhances wellbeing and workplace experience. A considered lighting strategy reinforces this verticality, beginning at arrival, where an artificial skylight mimics the movement and changing qualities of natural light throughout the day. Beyond, the kitchen, breakout and workspaces wrap around the building’s central atrium, drawing in natural light and creating visual connections throughout.
The workplace supports a range of work modes, from focused individual tasks and confidential meetings to informal collaboration and client engagement. While highly functional, the environment remains calm, refined and enduring, reflecting Metrics’ reputation for precision, trust and long-term relationships.
